SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Under the direction of founder Soumya Sengupta, who brought more than 20 years of varied experience in hotel operations, project development, sales and marketing strategy, and brand establishment, Wormwood Hotels, a rapidly growing hospitality brand, reached a major milestone in its growth journey. Having been closely linked with top hotel brands in his early career, Soumya Sengupta, an MSc Hotel Management graduate from IHM Kolkata, combines a solid academic foundation with a wealth of industry exposure. Later, he moved into consulting and entrepreneurship, where he was instrumental in creating, repositioning, and growing a number of hospitality companies in India and its surrounding areas. Soumya Sengupta, being a seasoned professional in the hospitality sphere with years of experience and finesse in enhancing hotel operations as well as strategic planning and development, embarked on this ambitious journey by creating Wormwood Hotels with the intent of building a hotel brand around a regional identity. With the guidance of mentor and support investor Anil Kishorepuria, the venture began in Bhagalpur in the State of Bihar. On the first anniversary of its existence, Wormwood Hotels has already carved out its identity by expanding to five hotels across the Indian hospitality map, namely Puri, Varanasi, Darjeeling, and Bhagalpur. Sengupta's expertise encompasses areas such as mobilising resources, identifying locations, and conceptualising innovative food and beverage offerings to cater to hotel guests, thanks to his extensive working experiences in the hotel and tourism industries within India, Bhutan, and IRCTC. However, they now aim to grow to ten hotels by the end of 2026 and have already strategized to launch new hotels in Shantiniketan, Digha, and Siliguri in West Bengal and Eastern India, leveraging Sengupta's expertise in performance optimization and cost control to grow within this regional space and find its identity in the tourism arena of established hotel destinations within the districts of West Bengal and Eastern India.
