News Desk, News Nation 360 : The 10th Edition of Eastern India Microfinance Summit 2025 was organised by the Association of Microfinance Institutions - West Bengal (AMFI-WB) in collaboration with MFIN and Sa-Dhan, with support from Equifax as Knowledge Partner and M2i as Research Partner, at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium, Alipore, Kolkata. important role in bridging this gap by providing equal access to financial services for groups that are frequently excluded from mainstream banking. The microfinance industry has been confronted with many challenges in the past 18 months, such as reproduction challenges, over-indebtedness, as well as lingering impacts of COVID-19, but it has demonstrated a high degree of adaptability in this period by enhancing elements related to safeguards, ethical conduct, and regulatory compliance with RBI and GoI norms. The theme of this year’s summit, “Reimagining Microfinance towards Viksit Bharat,” centered on three key tenets: Recovery, which involves rebuilding processes, employee skills, and customer trust in the wake of challenges such as employee attrition and portfolios; Protecting Borrowers, which concentrates on compliance, customer protection, and transparency in a manner that promotes ethical and responsible loan disbursement, thereby increasing customer resistance capacities without incurring over-indebtedness; and Inspiring Investor Confidence, which focuses on customer protection enhancement and organizational strengthening to mobilize funds in support of long-term sustainability of this industry in the financial inclusion space.
