News Desk. News Nation 360: August 2026 will see the start of the first academic year at Bengaluru's Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM), a new deemed-to-be institution founded by the Gokula Education Foundation (Medical) in collaboration with the institution at Albany (SUNY). Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, business, and science will be offered by RISM, which is envisioned as a next-generation STEM and management university. Initial offers include B.Tech in Computer Science and AI, Aerospace Engineering, and BBA/MBA degrees. The university sets itself apart with a "global-first" academic model that includes industry-sponsored Centres of Excellence, a co-created curriculum, and a faculty structure that integrates "Professors of Practice" from senior industry roles directly into departments. Through interdisciplinary research and immersive learning, the partnership seeks to close the gap between traditional education and the quickly changing global job market, according to Gurucharan Gollerkeri, Executive Director at Gokula Education Foundation, and Havidán Rodríguez, President of UAlbany. In order to promote direct industry-academia collaboration, RISM will move from its current transit campus in Yelahanka to a permanent residential campus in Bengaluru's ITIR region near Devanahalli by September 2027. Students will be positioned strategically close to important industrial hubs like the Aerospace Park and the upcoming Foxconn facility.
