News Desk, News Nation 360 : As the Bengal Rose Society successfully staged the 42nd Indian Rose Convention and All India Rose Show from January 3–5 at Lions Safari Park, Kolkata became the nation's centre for floriculture. Bengal's long-standing leadership in rose growing and breeding in India was reaffirmed by the esteemed event, which was organised under the auspices of the Indian Rose Federation in partnership with Lions Safari Park, a project of the Lions Club of North Calcutta. Arup Roy, Minister-in-Charge, Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, Government of West Bengal, officially opened the Convention. The event was honoured by Pradip K. Mazumdar, Minister-in-Charge, Panchayats, Rural Development & Cooperation, Government of West Bengal. More than 250 delegates, including renowned rosarians, breeders, horticulturists, and researchers
from all around the nation, attended the national convention. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Narendra Dadlani, President, Bengal Rose Society, stated that for the Bengal Rose Society, hosting the 42nd Indian Rose Convention in Kolkata was a historic occasion. The Convention was the result of Bengali rosarians' decades-long commitment to improving rose breeding, growing methods, and exhibition standards. More significantly, it gave rose producers, researchers, and lovers from all over the nation a national forum for deep engagement, the sharing of best practices, and cooperative learning. The All India Rose Show, which featured about 2,500 cut rose displays from top growers across the country, was one of the Convention's main draws. With over 700 potted displays on display, the exhibition also showcased Bengal's unique speciality in potgrown roses. Several submissions had more than 100 flowers per pot, showcasing sophisticated horticultural techniques, particular growing material, and advanced cultivation methods specific to the area. A team of well-known rose specialists from various regions of India assessed the exhibits.
