Devotion and Heritage Blend Seamlessly at Odissi Dancer Subikash Mukherjee’s Residence on Rath Yatra

\News Desk, News Nation 360: During the sacred occasion of Rath Yatra, which celebrated the 23rd anniversary of the formal domestic consecration of Lord Jagannath after the dancer received a profound divine dream (swapanadesh), the home of renowned Odissi exponent Subikash Mukherjee in Kolkata became an elite centre of classical devotion and spiritual ecstasy. For more than 20 years, Mukherjee has meticulously maintained a strict Vaishnavite lineage of worship after bringing the holy wooden Darubrahma deities back to his home in 1993. He has organised intricate, scriptural Shodashopachara (sixteen-item) rituals that culminate in a colourful neighbourhood

chariot procession. A specialised replica set of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balaram, and Goddess Subhadra was ceremoniously seated on the chariot and pulled to the nearby Ashtajata Durga Temple amid the fervent chanting of Naba Kirtan to preserve the ongoing sanctity of the household's fixed (achal) main idols. The makeshift sanctuary will host rigorous daily rituals over the next seven days leading up to the Ulta Rath (return journey). These rituals will include meticulous morning and evening bhog food offerings, grand arati ceremonies, and traditional Odissi nritya puja dance dedications. These events will powerfully demonstrate the deep, unbreakable artistic harmony that binds the classical grammar of Odissi dance with absolute, lifelong surrender to the cosmic rhythm of the Lord of the Universe.
