News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture in Golpark, Kolkata, hosted a special cultural event to commemorate the 164th birthday of famous poet Rabindranath Tagore and the birth anniversary of Gyan Prakash Ghosh, a well-known music maestro. Anandi Communication Centre and Rupsa literary magazine recently hosted a cultural function in Kolkata based on Rabindranath Tagore's songs. The most noted feature of the evening was a musical narration entitled "Anya Rabindranath" (The Other Rabindranath), an innovative presentation of 23 of Tagore's songs conceived, scripted, and directed by noted music artist Indrani Bhattacharya.
The songs were sung by eminent singers like Indrani Bhattacharya, Abhik Mallik, Sridhara Gupta, Shelly Biswas Bhattacharya, Dr. Surajit Roy, and Aditi Gupta, with musical support by Subrata Mukhopadhyay, Premangshu Sen, Amitranjan Roy, and Gautam Ray. Antara Das and Manasi Raychaudhuri recited the narration. The second half saw soulful performances by Snigdhadeb Sengupta, in remembrance of his guru, Gyan Prakash Ghosh. On the occasion, doyen Rabindra Sangeet singer and researcher Sagarmoy Bhattacharya was honoured by retired judge of the Supreme Court of India Justice Ashok Ganguly. Swami Suparnananda Maharaj, Secretary of Golpark's Ramakrishna Mission, also honoured the occasion. The evening, wonderfully hosting the proceedings of Sudipta Mukhopadhyay and Anandi Bhattacharya, was received with immense appreciation and regular applause from the audience, who applauded the brilliant performances and high-standard script. The emphasis on less common and lesser-heard Tagore songs was a strong takeaway, adding depth to the musical drama and providing a new and refreshing look at the poet's varied articulations. The crowd was especially delighted that both Indrani Bhattacharya and singer Aditi Gupta are products of South Point School, adding a layer of glee to the evening.
