SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Kartikeya Vajpai, who happens to be a novice author, recently launched his novel, The Unbecoming, at the prestigious Oxford Bookstore in Kolkata. Written by Kartikeya Vajpai and published by Penguin Random House India, The Unbecoming delves into big philosophical and spiritual questions; what can be a more relevant theme for a city that boasts about itself for its laid-back demeanour and reflective nature? He also had a casual chat with Jimmy Tangree, the head of 91.9 Friends FM radio stations, at the event, where the former actor and author Barun Chandra also joined them. One must commend the author for managing to get the book preface written by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Swami Sarvapriyananda; such conduct adds genuine spirituality to any book. He also managed to bring scholars and writers from across the spectrum to partake in the proceedings, where everyone was actively discussing the myriad ideas explored in his book. This part brings back the echoes and historical context, referencing a Kolkata where spirituality and literature came face to face. This author and his work reside in the tradition

of philosophical exploration and invite readers to find a deeper self within themselves. Siddharth, a renowned cricket player, and Ajay, the seasoned coach who influenced his path, have a developing connection at the heart of the reflective book The Unbecoming. Both are forced to face the weight of expectation, the fear of the unknown, and the illusions of identity as their long-standing guru–shishya bond is put to the test. The novel explores the art of letting go of one's inherited selves and reverting to one's fundamental self by fusing narrative storytelling with emotional reality and intellectual inquiry. Speaking at the launch, author Kartikeya Vajpai stated that the realisation that a large portion of our misery results from holding onto identities that have been moulded by anticipation and fear is the foundation of The Unbecoming. It is essentially the only thing that restricts personal freedom. Therefore, let go of self-constructed image and the opinions that other people have by being careless and unthinking. Unbecoming is a subdued comeback, a call to let life find its own meaning instead of forcing one on it. In today's world, introspection is crucial. It enables staying rooted in awareness and presence while acting clearly.
