SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk, News Nation 360 : To support West Bengali exports and entrepreneurs, Amazon India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Textile, Government of West Bengal, today at the Bengal Global Business Summit in Kolkata. The Hon. Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, was present when the Memorandum of Understanding was signed. Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, Amazon will assist state-based MSMEs in exporting their distinctive Made in India goods to consumers in more than 200 nations and territories worldwide, as well as training and onboarding them on its Global Selling platform. The Chief Secretary of the Government of West Bengal, Dr. Manoj Pant, was among the other dignitaries present. Amazon is partnering with the West Bengal government to train and onboard local MSMEs onto its Global Selling program. This will enable these businesses to sell their "Made in India" products to millions of Amazon customers in over 200 countries and territories. Amazon Global Selling simplifies global expansion for Indian MSMEs, providing immediate access to international markets and leveraging Amazon's distribution network and global reach for rapid scaling. Currently, over 150,000 Indian exporters participate in the program, having collectively generated over $13 billion in exports. Many of these businesses have successfully built globally recognized brands through e-commerce exports. Amazon has pledged to enable over $80 billion in cumulative exports from India by 2030. Rajesh Pandey, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal, stated that they have made digitising small businesses and increasing state exports their top priorities, and he wanted to thank Amazon for starting projects that support these goals. For the sake of the thousands of business owners in West Bengal, their state will collaborate closely with Amazon. Initiatives like this, in his opinion, can help them expand their business by connecting with clients worldwide and supporting their state's expanding digital economy.
