News Desk, News Nation 360 : Recently to commemorate World Kidney Day, at Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Medica Group of Hospitals, the top private hospital chain in Eastern India, held an inspiring "Kidney Transplant Champions Meet" in honour of World Kidney Day. The purpose of the event was to educate guests on important aspects of kidney transplants. Together with Dr Rohit Rungta, Senior Consultant Nephrologist & Renal Transplant Physician, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, (Prof.) Dr Dilip Kumar Pahari, Head of Nephrology, Senior Vice Chairman, Director & Senior Consultant of Nephrology, dispelled myths, provided important information, and identified possible signs of nephrological issues. The event featured the inspirational life stories of about fifteen recipients of kidney transplants. One particular case jumped out at the "Kidney Transplant Champions Meet." Lallianpuii, a 35-year-old resident of Aizawl, Mizoram, had a complicated medical background that included kidney issues. In 2012, she underwent kidney surgery, and in 2020, she underwent another procedure. She immediately contacted Dr Rohit Rungta after learning she was pregnant in 2023 because she was worried about possible complications because of her kidney problems. In charge of her case, Dr Rungta recommended that she seek specialist care from Dr Shilpita Banerjee, Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Medica Superspecialty Hospital. The 35-year-old Lallianpuii of Aizawl, Mizoram, expressed her gratitude to Medica for their wonderful care during her pregnancy. Their knowledge and attention to detail, particularly under the direction of Dr Rohit Rungta, ensured a seamless transition during her pregnancy despite her history of kidney issues. Her faith in Dr Shilpita Banerjee was reinforced by her careful preparation and assistance during her delivery. She felt emotionally stronger after the counselling sessions, and she was very impressed with how proactive they were in setting up a birth plan that met her needs. She is grateful to Medica for realising her dream of becoming a mother. Reflecting on this critical delivery, Dr Rohit Rungta expressed that he has been taking care of Lallianpuii since 2012. He was ecstatic to hear about her conception and her resolve to carry the pregnancy to term. He then sent her to see Dr Shilpita Banerjee and continued to be involved, keeping in close contact to ensure her immune suppressants were controlled before things got out of hand. The trip went well because of her frequent check-ups and efficient coordination. Seeing her with her healthy baby earlier this year was very touching. The programme and interactive discussion took participants through clinically relevant topics, from recognising kidney problems' symptoms to understanding how best to manage them for general health.
