News Desk, News Nation 360 : One of the biggest private sector banks in India, Axis Bank, reaffirmed its dedication to funding cancer research and patient care programs in India on this World Cancer Day. Axis Bank has partnered with three reputable cancer institutions in India as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments: the Indian Cancer Society (ICS), the National Cancer Grid (NCG) under Tata Memorial Centre, and the St. Jude India Childcare Centres. These partnerships aim to improve access to cancer care, increase awareness of early cancer diagnosis and treatment, advance cancer research and innovation, and build India's digital capabilities in oncology. Axis Bank is deeply committed to improving cancer care in India through strategic partnerships focused on three key areas. Firstly, the bank is advancing cancer research, innovation, and training through a multi-year partnership with the National Cancer Grid (NCG). This collaboration supports seminal initiatives, including a national tele-consultation platform for follow-up care, a National Tumour Biobank, the digitalization of oncology-specific electronic medical records (EMRs), and a Virtual Skills Lab for the training of healthcare professionals. Such efforts aim at over 300 NCG-affiliated hospitals and its much broader Indian health ecosystem, aligning with nationwide digital health initiatives, such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Axis Bank is now enabling preventive care by partnering with the Indian Cancer Society (ICS) to host screening and awareness camps for oral, cervical, and breast cancer. More than 8 lakh beneficiaries are targeted in this activity-including citizens and community health workers. Besides, the program supports critical funds such as the Dr Arun Kurkure Initiation and Treatment Fund and the Cancer Cure Treatment Fund, which facilitate low-income patients to undergo diagnostics and treatment. Finally, the bank is offering critical patient support through its association with St. Jude India Childcare Centres. Axis Bank supported the establishment of a new 26-family-unit childcare facility in Hyderabad, inaugurated on January 26, 2025, offering "home away from home" accommodations for families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment in major cities. These combined initiatives are part of Axis Bank's commitment to driving scalable, impactful, and sustainable solutions for cancer care, in line with its broader vision of empowering communities and building societal resilience. Speaking about these initiatives, Vijay Mulbagal, Group Executive for Strategic Programs & Sustainability, Axis Bank, stated that they at Axis Bank are committed to helping India combat cancer as a nation. Their goal of developing longer-term skills in India's healthcare system as a whole is in line with their collaboration with significant organisations that are contributing significantly to the nation's cancer research, treatment, and patient care ecosystem. They will keep working with their partners to create a future where everyone in need of advanced cancer care can access it.
