News Desk, News Nation 360 : Recently, a dignified celebration of the 139th Foundation Day of the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI), one of the oldest commercial organisations in India, took place in Kolkata. Members of the chamber and notable visitors attended the event, which took place in Kolkata. The history of this organisation is closely linked to the Indian independence movement. It was founded on February 2, 1887, during the British Empire, to safeguard the interests of Indian businesses. Prominent Bengali industrialists and landlords of the era were among the founding members. Later, Gujarati and Marwari businesspeople joined the group as well. In 1887, Rai Budree Das Mookim Bahadur became the Chamber's first president. The chamber has been led by notable individuals over the years, including Raja Shew Bux Bagla,

Maharaja Manindra Chandra Nandy of the Cossimbazar Raj dynasty, Nalini Ranjan Sarkar, and Amritlal Ojha. The Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) marked its 139th Foundation Day by paying tribute to a number of distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to society. In his remarks, President Ashok Kumar Banik said that this is the 13th year that this event has further strengthened the relationship between the chamber and society. The Chief Guests at this year’s event were Dr Dominic Savio, Principal of St. Xavier’s College, and Kushal Chowdhury, Secretary of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple Trust, along with Guest of Honour and environmentalist Subhash Datta. On this occasion, Director Ritwik Das and industrialist Kunal Shah spoke about the glorious past of BNCCI since its inception in 1887 and its continuous contributions to the trade and industrial development of India. The function was attended by several distinguished guests, including Soumik Dutta from AU Small Finance Bank and Firdausul Hasan of the Film Federation of India. Former Presidents of BNCCI, including Arun Kumar Chandra and Bani Roy Chowdhury, were also present on the occasion. Marking the point where heritage and modernity meet, the event once again reiterated the chamber’s crucial role in the country’s economic scenario. The event was a reminder of the chamber’s commitment to supporting Indian entrepreneurs and contributing to the development of industries in the country for the last 139 years.
