News Desk, News Nation 360 : In honour of World Autistic Pride Day 2025, Desun Hospital and Behaviour Momentum India (BMI) introduced an autism intervention based on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), the industry's gold standard, to Eastern India. The initiative positions Desun-BMI as pioneers of a gold-standard approach to autism intervention in a region historically underserved in this domain. Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a disorder affecting development. It affects how individuals interact, communicate, and behave. It encompasses persistent challenges with social interaction and communication. It also encompasses restricted or repetitive behaviour and interests. ASD is a spectrum. Symptoms and the extent of symptoms vary extensively across individuals. 1 in every 39 children across the world has autism. A pride-themed event, "Pride in Every Mind: Building Inclusive Futures for Autistic Children", was organised. It brought together

clinicians, caregivers, educators, and neurodivergent self-advocates. The event spoke volumes about a significant shift in the region's response to autism care. The new response is centred around dignity, accessibility, and evidence-based intervention. Mindspace Academy is a new Autism and Neurodevelopment Support Centre. It is a collaborative initiative between Desun Hospital and Bangalore-based BMI. This centre has brought Eastern India's first hospital-based ABA model. This model includes early developmental screening, ethically sound behavioural intervention, caregiver assistance, and Assistant Behaviour Technician (ABT) training. Dr. Smita Awasthi, BCBA-D and Founder of BMI, BCBA-D, stated that this is about establishing the groundwork for a systematic approach to autism that is based on research and cultural relevance, not merely on launching a new treatment. Internationally recognised best practices for autism care have been unavailable to families in Eastern India for far too long.
