News Desk, News Nation 360 : Although the precise number of persons who have mitral valve replacement surgery in India is unknown, at least one facility performs more than 1,000 of these procedures annually, indicating a substantial operation volume. Desun Hospital reports that a 46-year-old male patient from Jharkhand who had dextrocardia—an uncommon disease in which the heart is positioned on the right side of the chest rather than the left—had successful Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR) surgery. Investigations showed that Vikash Paswan, the patient, had significant mitral valve disease and experienced acute dyspnoea upon exercise. On September 9, he was brought to Desun Hospital, and on September 18, he was released following a period of recuperation following surgery. With the assistance of a specialised cardiac surgery unit, specialised steel modular operating rooms, and state-of-the-art post-operative care facilities, a highly skilled team of cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons and anaesthetists oversee the Mitral Valve Replacement procedure at Desun Hospital. This accomplishment highlights Desun Hospital's commitment to improving treatment for uncommon and challenging heart disorders. The surgery, performed by a skilled team of cardiac surgeons and anaesthetists, achieved the rare feat, led by Dr Soumyajit Ghosh, Senior Consultant CTVS Surgeon. He stated that they are dedicated to providing each patient with cutting-edge, caring care. It is challenging to do such an operation on a patient with dextrocardia because it defies their clinical intuition. It has been a novel experience because they don't often encounter scenarios like that.
