SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: The Calcutta Times Fashion Week 2026 in Kolkata had the Indian Institute of Fashion and Design (IIFD) Kolkata as the Title Partner for the event, which featured a new student display called “ROOT CODE.” This combines India’s rich cultural legacy with the world’s fashion trends. Expect to see Indo-Western styles with a touch of modernity through the use of the latest styles in clothing, including corset-style blouses, stacked jackets, and daring asymmetrical

styles that reinterpret traditional themes for the modern audience. The event was held in a classy Kolkata hotel with actress Madhumita Sarcar as the VIP guest for the event. Also in attendance were several Kolkata influencers. According to the Chairperson Vimi Vansil and Campus Director Shikha Agarwal, the display is a reflection of the IIFD’s goal to nurture “creative thinkers” who celebrate the country’s rich cultural legacy while promoting innovation. This display of faith in the next generation of designers is a reminder that the future of fashion will always be deeply connected to the country’s cultural identity.
