News Desk, News Nation 360: ManipalCigna Health Insurance released insights from its proprietary ‘India Health Quotient’ (IHQ) 2026 survey conducted by YouGov with 2,600 urban respondents in Kolkata, Guwahati, Patna, Bhubaneswar, and 16 other cities. The survey showed that East India scored highly at 66/100, above the national average score of 65/100. In terms of physical, mental, financial, occupational and social wellbeing, the East had a healthy balance, with the top-scoring categories being Social Health (67/100), Mental Health (66/100) and Financial Health (63/100). This was higher than the national average score of 62/100. Interestingly, Kolkata scored particularly highly, with 28% of respondents identifying financial stability as their top health pillar. 50% were focused on retirement planning for the future (vs 41% in other regions), and 50% were seeking help from professionals for their mental health. Commenting on the insights, Sapna Desai, Chief Marketing Officer, said: "East India has a unique combination of financial planning and emotional and social wellbeing. Over half feel they are highly accepted (vs 48% nationally). Across India, the ‘Wellbeing Premium’ was also apparent. Insured urban Indians scored 6 points higher than those who weren’t insured (68/100 vs 62/100). This was seen across all demographics, stress levels and locations, showing how having health cover is an important factor in maintaining your financial stability and general wellbeing."
