Manipal Hospital Dhakuria Hosted a Summit on Heart Health

News Desk, News Nation 360: Manipal Hospital Dhakuria, part of the Manipal Hospitals Group, organised the ‘Heart of Innovation Cardiac Summit’ in Kolkata on the eve of World Heart Day (September 29, globally observed as “Don’t Miss a Beat”), bringing together doctors, convalescents, and cultural personalities to address the growing medical and social challenge of heart attacks progressing to chronic heart failure. Featuring live CPR public workshops by Emergency Medicine Consultant Dr. Ashok Mishra and interactive myth-busting sessions, the summit provided a platform for young survivors like 32-year-old familial hypercholesterolemia patient Doman Sonkar to narrate their recovery stories (who has been through multiple surgeries and eight cardiac stents) as well as for clinicians like Senior Consultant & HOD – Cardiology Dr. Prakash Kumar Hazra, cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Kaushik Mukherjee and interventional cardiologists Dr. Sumanta Chatterjee, Dr. Supratip Kundu, Dr. Soumya Kanti Dutta and Dr. Pradip Bhowmik to share their insights on the prevention and management of this debilitating condition. Underlining the hospital’s tertiary care capacity in laser angioplasty, TAVI/TAVR, leadless pacemakers, orbital rota-ablation, PFA and MICS, Hospital Director Dilip Kumar Roy, along with cultural personalities Rajesh Sharma and Dipanjan Basak, reiterated that the combined strength of early recognition of symptoms and timely intervention using advanced catheter-based and minimally invasive technologies can help prevent irreversible cardiac damage and long-term cardiac disability.
