News Desk, News Nation 360 : While talking about the initiative, Dr. Ansu Sen, Senior Consultant, Neurology, Manipal Hospitals, Salt Lake, shared that he has always been a music lover. Over the years, he has seen firsthand how music can calm even the most disturbed brains and gently inspire optimism. With this program, they hope to create a space where healing affects the heart and goes beyond medicine. Music therapy is a supplemental therapy that can significantly accelerate patients' overall healing process; it is not a replacement. In commemoration of World Music Day, Manipal Hospital, Salt Lake, had a very poignant program. It was hosted and designed by Dr. Ansu Sen, Senior Consultant, Neurology, Manipal Hospitals, Salt Lake. The program intertwined the therapeutic nature of music with the science behind healing. To pay homage to the healing strength of music, from next month, the hospital will commence Music Therapy for neurological disorders. The event brought together neuro patients, caregivers, physicians, and musicians. It was a poignant session. It demonstrated how music, rhythm, tone, and harmony can contribute significantly to healing and recovery. Great singer Indrani Sen and renowned musician Shamik Pal honoured the event. They expressed warm reflections on healing through music. The music therapy program is a significant move towards holistic healing. It identifies how rhythm, sound, and melody can influence positive neurological recovery. Backed by solid clinical evidence, music therapy has been demonstrated to activate cognitive processing. It assists with speech and language in stroke patients. It assists gait and balance in Parkinson's patients. It also decreases symptoms of depression and agitation in Alzheimer's patients. It constructs emotional strength and enhances socialisation. This assists in enhancing the quality of life in patients with chronic neurological diseases.
