SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: Mentaid, the first registered parents' group in West Bengal, held a historic concert at Madhusudan Mancha in Kolkata to commemorate its 40th anniversary. The organisation has been committed to the holistic development and empowerment of children and young adults with intellectual disabilities, such as Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, and cerebral palsy, for forty years. It primarily serves children from economically disadvantaged
households. The dance play "Mukti," written and directed by Jahar Das, was the focal point of the evening. It presented a moving message of coexisting peacefully with nature while showcasing the varied abilities of Mentaid's students, trainees, and their families. Renowned dancer Priti Patel gave artistic advice for the production, and Oindrilla Dutt curated it and offered live commentary. Smt. was among the eminent guests of honour who graced the occasion. Dr Sudha Kaul, recipient
of the Padma Shri, social reformer Alokananda Ray, and Tulika Das, chairperson of the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights. After Founder-Chairperson Smt. gave a moving introductory speech. The program moved from the "Panch Tatwa" opening act to the highly acclaimed staging of "Mukti," highlighting Mentaid's continued dedication to assisting carers and promoting an inclusive society for all, with Iona Kundu and a retrospective video documenting Mentaid's 40-year journey.
