News Desk, News Nation 360 : The country's first and only platform specifically for the aluminium extrusion industry, ALUMEX India 2025, is expected to significantly advance India's goal of being self-reliant in key industrial areas. The three-day event, which will be held in New Delhi from September 10 to 13, is organised by the Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI) and sponsored by Hindalco, Vedanta, and JNARDDC, an independent organisation under the Ministry of Mines. It aims to highlight the capabilities and strengths of domestic extrusion manufacturing. ALUMEX India 2025, which has more than 200 exhibitors and 12,000 anticipated global visitors, will bring industry captains, MSMEs, technology suppliers, and policymakers together. The conference will discuss the future of aluminium extrusion in multiple sectors such as mobility, infrastructure, green energy, aerospace, and electronics. Participation by world metal and metal recycling leaders is anticipated to improve Indian manufacturers' quality and export potential. Eastern India, specifically West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Assam, will be pivotal in the development of the aluminium extrusion industry. Eastern India hosts about 25 manufacturing plants, producing about 10,000 metric tonnes per month in aggregate, with ten of these in West Bengal. The plants take advantage of Odisha's abundant primary aluminium supply, providing cost savings for downstream processing. They also benefit from demand from Hooghly, Howrah, and Kharagpur industrial belts, driven by urban development projects such as metro rail expansion, electric mobility, and solar power plants. Export activity is picking up at the local level, with manufacturers in East India exporting to European, Middle Eastern, and North American markets. Jitendra Chopra, President of ALEMAI, stated that for the aluminium extrusion business, eastern India is strategically extremely valuable. It makes a substantial contribution to the industry thanks to its abundant mineral deposits, proximity to smelters, strong industrial corridors, and advancing connectivity. Eastern India will be crucial in lowering reliance on imports of aluminium and propelling the country's aluminium extrusion industry's next phase of expansion.
