News Desk, News Nation 360: Just one week after surviving a devastating car accident, Shrishti Dubey, an 18-year-old NEET candidate from Liluah, Howrah, was able to pass her high-stakes NEET UG exam on Sunday, June 21, 2026, thanks to ILS Hospitals, Dum Dum. Nine broken ribs, a ruptured left lung, a severed left major bronchus windpipe, a shattered shoulder, and serious facial trauma were among the medical aspirant's potentially fatal injuries when he was hit by a speeding heavy vehicle early on June 14, 2026. Dr Samarth Acharya, a consultant cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, and Dr Priyanka Maitra Karak, a consultant cardiac anaesthesiologist, led a specialised multidisciplinary surgical team at ILS Hospitals that performed an emergency, complicated eight-hour procedure to repair her airway, stabilise seven fractured ribs, and remove damaged lung tissue under the cooperative post-operative care of Drs. Mrinmoy Mitra (Pulmonology), Salil Mallik (Plastic Surgery), Mridul Tantia (GI Surgery), and Suresh Kejriwal (Orthopaedics), Shrishti defied clinical expectations by regaining consciousness within 36 hours, walking by the third day, and starting her studies from her hospital bed right away. The hospital administration worked closely with her father, Shreeram Shiwji Dubey, and federal authorities—including a sympathetic intervention by the Hon'ble Education Minister of India, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan—to enable her participation after realising how determined she was not to miss a school year. Through the coordinated efforts of the Barrackpore, Bidhannagar, and Kolkata Police Commissionerates, a seamless, multi-jurisdictional Green Corridor and police escort were established to ensure her safe transit while she was on supplemental oxygen. This allowed Shrishti to arrive at her examination centre at Binodini Girls' School near the airport on time and finish her exam without any clinical complications.
