News Desk, News Nation 360: At the Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC), Prantakatha presented a stirring Pride Month dance-theatre event called "Samaaj," which transformed personal stories into a personal creative conversation on memory, grief, resiliency, and healing within LGBT lived experiences. A distinguished group of dignitaries and activists, including Bernard Lynch, the Australian consul general in Kolkata; Dr Santosh Giri, the director of Kolkata Rista; renowned filmmaker Sudeshna Roy; food consultant and LGBTQ+ activist Rukshana Kapadia; and Suneha Saha, the co-founder of Ammolite Ideators, graced the high-profile cultural event. The Australian Consul-General commended the production and highlighted Prantakatha's crucial role in raising awareness and creating a secure, welcoming cross-regional network where LGBTQIA+ youth from Mumbai and Kolkata could come together via common narratives. The performance provided an unvarnished, respectable glimpse into the intricate emotional topographies of the queer community, going well beyond conventional stage production aesthetics to place a strong emphasis on empathy and social representation. Bappaditya Mukherjee, Director of Prantakatha, concluded the evening by emphasising that Samaaj was purposefully designed to honour individual stories of suffering and survival with the highest dignity, reaffirming the organisation's long-term commitment to using the transformative power of theatre to create a compassionate healthcare and social model where every individual feels seen, heard, and structurally valued.
