News Desk, News Nation 360 : Congress MP and deputy leader Gaurav Gogoi criticised the Union Budget 2024 at the ABP News program "Shikhar Sammelan – Bharat Ka Budget." He claimed that this announcement would not result in any victories for the NDA in Andhra Pradesh or Bihar. He alleges that the budget has tried to appease coalition leaders rather than proposing anything for the common people, particularly farmers and lower middle class, who have only heard slogans. Gogoi said that he had very low expectations, so it turned out to be like any other budget, because he felt the government was not practicing cooperative federalism and was only supporting state governments without addressing their real problems. He said that the BJP had not taken adequate incorporation of Congress suggestions such as extending apprenticeship support and abolishing the Angel Tax. With Congress not having the numbers to form a government, Gogoi said it is still open to giving constructive input, saying the headlines of the budget indicate that there are no substantial benefits to the common people. He criticised the unwillingness of the government to discuss larger issues like MGNREGA and NEET leaks, 2024, and brought to the fore environmental and agricultural issues like deteriorating air and land pollution and farmers battling floods and climate change. Gogoi called for new insurance policies and innovative solutions to help out farmers and asked the central government to take a broader view and act accordingly.
