News Desk, News Nation 360: Adperma Private Limited, a subsidiary of Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL), has commissioned India’s largest Phenol and Acetone manufacturing plant at Haldia, West Bengal, which will reduce the country’s dependence on imports of the chemical intermediates worth ₹6,000 crore. The unit was formally inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Suvendu Adhikari, in the presence of TCG chairman Dr Purnendu Chatterjee, HPL MD & CEO Navanit Narayan, Adperma CEO Sanjiv Vasudeva, and other officials. India’s first-ever phenol-making plant on the eastern coast uses Lummus Technology’s licensor know-how through TCG Group and is connected to HPL’s petrochemical complex to produce 345,000 tonnes of Phenol and 215,000 tonnes of Acetone using the company’s captive propylene and benzene per annum. The downstream products include Bisphenol-A, polycarbonates, phenolic resins, laminates, pharmaceuticals, paints, agrochemicals, and solvents. It will meet the chemical needs of several specialised chemical clusters in eastern India and insulate Indian manufacturers from global supply chain disruptions and import price volatility.
