The Purvodaya Literary Festival 2025 is set to Unfold in Kolkata

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Purvodaya Literary Festival 2025, with the theme "Embracing the East for Cultural Harmony," is going to turn Kolkata into a kaleidoscopic zone of artistic revelry, reflecting the vibrant cultural expressions of Eastern India. Taking place from February 27th to March 1st, 2025, the three-day extravaganza will be graced by the inauguration of H.E. Dr CV Ananda Bose, Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal (TBC), and is hosted by the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS), leading Eastern Indian research think tank, in association with leading organizations including the National Book Trust, Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Sahitya Akademi, Aurobindo Bhavan, and Publication Board of Assam. The festival will enchant the audience with the poetic lyrics of Bengal, the mesmerizing folklore of Assam, the epic narratives of Odisha, the engaging mythologies of Bihar and Jharkhand, and the eternally timeless wisdom in the indigenous oral traditions of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. This festival of words and minds aims to revive a love of reading and writing, create vibrant conversations between creative minds, and celebrate the rich linguistic heritage of this culturally diverse region. The Purvodaya Literary Festival 2025, a milestone festival that commemorates Eastern India's cultural and literary excellence, will usher in more than two lakh people from six states, creating an active platform for intellectual exchange, creative expression, and intercultural understanding. Structured to present Bengali poetry, Assamese folklore, Odia epics, Bihar and Jharkhand mythologies, and oral traditions of the Indigenous people, the festival intends to reach out to young people through interactive sessions, competitions, and educational activities, and bring literature together with music, dance, and theatre for a complete cultural experience. It also hopes to create bridges and enhance national integration, as well as cross-cultural understanding with neighbouring nations such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan. The festival will have interactive author sessions, informative panel discussions on literature, society, and culture, and engaging cultural performances, providing a forum for a rich exchange of ideas and artistic expressions. Director of ISCS, Arindam Mukherjee, pointed out that the festival will also have enriching workshops and master classes conducted by experts, giving scope to improve skills in writing and storytelling. A grand book fair will be there for book lovers, and a thrilling competition for young minds will inspire the next generation of writers, thinkers, and artists. This festival of words, imagination, and heritage will be a life-changing experience, bridging communities, inspiring conversations, and instilling greater respect for the rich literary heritage of the East.
