The Water Warriors are Recognised by the Electrosteel Jal Sevak Samman 2024

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The second iteration of the highly anticipated Electrosteel Jal Sevak Samman 2024 award ceremony, which honours individuals and institutions working in the water space, was hosted by Electrosteel Castings Ltd., one of the top providers of pipeline solutions and water infrastructure. The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) "Namami-Gange" Chief Guest, G Asok Kumar, Secretary to the Government of India, Former Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Water Mission, Government of India, also known as "The Rain Man of India," and Guest of Honour, Padmashri Uma Shankar Pandey, popularly known as "Pani Ke Pehredar" in the Uttar Pradesh villages for his initiative in groundwater contribution, as well as Subhaprasanna Bhattacharjee, renowned Painter from Kolkata, were among the distinguished guests at the glittering award ceremony. The distinguished jury members, Soumen Mitra, IPS (Retd.), Officer on Special Duty & Director, Training, Government of West Bengal & Former Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Dr. Jayanta Sengupta, Director, Alipore Museum, Kolkata, Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit Mukherjee, Professor of Geology & Geophysics, Environmental Science & Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, and VM Ralli, Independent Director, Electrosteel Castings Ltd., selected a shortlist of the winners from among the more than fifty nominations received this year. In the Individual Category, Aloke Sarkar and Rajendra Khawas, Co-Founders of the Nature & Adventure Study Group, were awarded the Jal Sevak Samman 2024. In the Organisational Category, Tagore Society for Rural Development and the Nature & Adventure Study Group were recognised for their outstanding efforts in showcasing creative solutions, useful applications, and unwavering advocacy that have a substantial impact on water sustainability. The fascinating dance recital by Dona Ganguly’s Diksha Manjari Dance Troupe set the tone of the Electrosteel Jal Sevak Samman 2024. The evening concluded with a soul-stirring performance by Tabla maestro Pandit Kumar Bose. Sunil Katial, Whole-Time Director & Chief Executive Officer, Electrosteel Castings Ltd. stated that through the Electrosteel Jal Sevak Samman, they hope to raise public awareness of the value of water conservation and encourage more individuals to take part in worthwhile water-saving projects, which will have a greater social impact. By working together, they can create a future in which every drop matters and every community has access to clean, safe water.
