SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Towards Life Foundation (TLF), an EIILM-Kolkata socio-environmental program, opened its new centre in Ultadanga, marking a significant step towards inclusive community development. A complimentary eye examination camp held in association with Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre commemorated the opening, reaffirming TLF's dedication to providing underserved populations with affordable healthcare. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Sashi Panja, Minister in Charge, Departments of Industry, Commerce & Enterprises, and Woman and Child Development & Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal; Anindya Kishore Routh, Councillor Ward No. 13 and Chairman Borough No. 3, KMC; Tridib Chatterjee, President, Publishers & Booksellers Guild; Gaurav Chakrabarty and Ridhima Ghosh, actors; Prof. Achintya Kumar Biswas, President, Ultadanga Vivekananda Club Prof. Dr. Rajarshi Das; Prof. (Dr.) R. P. Banerjee, Chairman & Director, EIILM-Kolkata; and Sipra Banerjee, CEO, Towards Life Foundation. While most CSR activities are conventional, the TLF program is a remarkable integrated extension of EIILM-Kolkata's educational ecosystem, where students become proactive changemakers and not merely volunteers. Under their curriculum, every student offers 20 hours of one-on-one spoken English instruction to underprivileged kids, the first-ever such education-based community outreach program by any private educational institution in Kolkata. The work of TLF goes beyond literacy to include child nutrition, health, and co-curricular growth and a holistic empowerment model under the mission "Prana Dipti – The Glowing Vital" to restore dignity and opportunity to children from poor urban slums in Kolkata. A recent eye-care camp, provided by TLF, had a full

gamut of services available for free or at nominal charges, ranging from vision refraction and color vision tests to AI-based fundus photography for diabetics, blood sugar and blood pressure checks for those aged 50 and more, on-the-spot dispensing of ready-made spectacles, appointment for subsidized cataract surgeries and advanced investigations, and specialist consultations in retina, cornea, glaucoma, pediatric eye care, and oculoplastic care. The camp, run by a devoted team of doctors from Susrut Eye Foundation, was from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM with segregated areas for registration, consultation, and assessment to facilitate patient flow.
