News Desk, News Nation 360: Through a ground-breaking AI-powered robotic cleaning project started in April 2026, Willowood Chemicals has accomplished a major environmental milestone in Kolkata by removing 18.5 tonnes of floating debris from the Adi Ganga. The project, in partnership with Clear Robotics India, makes use of fully electric, autonomous "Clearbot" vessels that are specifically made to manoeuvre through the shallow and narrow channels of the city's historic waterway, capturing invasive water hyacinth, thermocol, and single-use plastics before they can break down into dangerous microplastics. The initiative, which is led by Managing Director Parikshit Mundhra, prioritises a circular economy by making sure that 30% of the collected debris is separated and recycled. It also enhances the hydraulic flow and oxygen levels of the river, which is an essential source of water for farmers in South Bengal. With plans to share accumulated clean-up data with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) to support long-term urban planning and flood mitigation, this project, which falls under Willowood's "Paryavaran" CSR pillar, represents a shift toward tech-driven water stewardship and integrated resource management. Willowood is establishing a new standard for how business executives can actively restore urban ecosystems and assist resilient farming communities in West Bengal by fusing state-of-the-art marine robotics with a dedication to agricultural sustainability and ESG principles.
