News Desk, News Nation 360 : At a lavish press conference today, the St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCCAA), in proud partnership with the Department of Sports of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, formally launches the second edition of the Xaverian Football League (XSL). Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, the principal of St. Xavier's College and the president of SXCCAA, presided over the occasion with Firdausul Hasan, the honorary secretary of SXCCAA. Dignitaries, team owners, players, students, alumni, and members of the media were present. Tentatively scheduled on May 10th and 11th of 2025, the Xaverian Soccer League's (XSL) second season is set to witness action on hallowed college terrain in Kolkata. Becoming the city's fastest-growing youth-centric football tournament of note, XSL commands nationwide interest due to its innovative structure and motivational themes. In this edition, there will be eight corporate-sponsored franchise teams playing the dynamic, age-broking 5-a-side format. Each team consists of a well-balanced combination of players: 1 Marquee Player, 1 Guest Player, 3 Current Students, and 3 Alumni, focusing on mentorship, experience-sharing, and camaraderie while developing upcoming talent and creating bonds between former and current students. The teams owned by the top alumnus consist of Sharp Shooters (Owner: Sanjib Koner, Marquee: Rahim Nabi), Credo Accelerate (Owner: Sudeshna Roy Choudhury, Marquee: Mehtab Hussain), Xaverian Tigers (Owner: Faisal Haque, Marquee: Ashim Biswas), BTL Blasters (Owner: Ravi Todi, Marquee: Md. Rafique), Levitas (Owner: Vinod Lahoti, Marquee: Deepak Mandal), Digital Strikers (Owner: Sunil Agarwal, Marquee: Denson Devadas), Warriors (Owner: Atanu Malik, Marquee: Dipankar Ray), and LOD Lions (Owner: Amit Bajoria, Marquee: Alvito D'Cunha). The fundamental mission of the league remains encouraging youth football, creating lifelong relationships among alumni and current students, and exposing young players to top players to hasten their development. XSL is supported by dedicated corporate sponsors, celebrity ambassadors, and partnerships with distinguished institutions such as the British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata. Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, President, SXCCAA, stated that through the integration of academics, athletics, and friendship, XSL demonstrates their dedication to holistic growth. Seeing students, alumni, and sports figures join together in this event is encouraging. I hope Season 2 of the Alumni Association is a huge success.
