News Desk, News Nation 360: The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organised the 52nd India Gems & Jewellery Awards (IGJA), which brought together top national political leaders and trade stalwarts from across the country to celebrate the industry’s resilience and set out on a path to achieve an export of US$ 100 billion by 2040 as part of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Shri Amit Shah, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Maharashtra IT Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Govind Dholakia, all of whom emphasized the importance of the industry which employs more than 50 lakh people and is slated to earn US$ 27.72 billion in exports in FY 2025–26 despite the macroeconomic headwinds; speaking with GJEPC Chairman Shri Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman Shri Shaunak Parikh and Bharat Diamond Bourse President Shri Anoop Mehta, Shri Amit Shah called upon the sector to expand the complete value chain from lab-grown diamonds and luxury retail to take off into the creation of global Indian brands while state leaders laid out significant infrastructure projects like Maharashtra’s upcoming ₹ 1 lakh crore India Jewellery Park in Navi Mumbai which is expected to generate 50,000 jobs, before heaping Special Recognition Award on Shri Arvind Chhotalal Parikh (Crystal Diamonds) for his seven decades of service and Lifetime Achievement Award on Shri Vallabhbhai Patel, Founder of Kiran Gems.
