A Significant Development in the Management of Paediatric Asthma with ASTHMACON 2024

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Calcutta Medical College Hospital hosted ASTHMACON 2024 today in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) and the Calcutta Metropolis Academy of Paediatrics. The purpose of this conference was to exchange professional experiences on managing and preventing childhood asthma, with an emphasis on the most recent developments. The symposium included innovative asthma therapies for children, with a focus on the value of inhaler therapy and, in more severe cases, SMART (Single Maintenance and Reliever Therapy). Dr. Atanu Bhadra emphasised the organization's initiatives to educate students about asthma in the classroom, provide them with inhaler training, and promote

the installation of FirstTed boxes in all schools as a means of preventing asthma attacks. The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) made significant strides in pediatric care through two key partnerships. A historic Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Oxford University, enabling Indian pediatricians to undergo a three-year training program at NHS hospitals affiliated with Oxford University. This collaboration marks a new era of advanced pediatric training for Indian doctors. Additionally, IAP partnered with the Bangladesh Pediatric Association to facilitate exchange programs between pediatricians from both countries, aiming to enhance treatment outcomes through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
