Rotary Clubs Collaborate to Start "Project Muskaan" for Underprivileged Children

News Desk, News Nation 360: The Rotary Club of Salt Lake Metropolitan Kolkata, in association with the Rotary Club of Central Calcutta, Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties (USA), international Rotary partners, and global medical non-profit Alliance for Smiles, have launched Project Muskaan – an international humanitarian healthcare mission, which provides free corrective surgeries for cleft lip and palate to economically disadvantaged children at S.V.S. Marwari Hospital in Kolkata. Under the theme “Gift a Smile, Save a Life”, the event gathered top reconstructive surgeons, anesthesiologists, and paediatricians to mend the deformities of the upper lip and palate, which often lead to nutrition, development, and speech problems, and was opened by the Guest of Honour, Rtn. Anirudha Roychowdhary (Past Rotary International Director and the Chairperson of the Rotary Foundation India), District Governor (2026-27), Rtn. Tapas Bhattacharya, District Governor Nominee, Rtn. Bratindo Mullick, and DGSC Rtn. Binod Khaitan. The mission was noted by Dr Aruna Tatia, Past President of RC Salt Lake Metropolitan Kolkata, for helping children regain their social acceptance and dignity, while Alliance for Smiles Mission Director Rtn. PDG Tina Finchlin and S.V.S. Marwari Hospital President S.V.S. Seksaria highlighted the organisations’ ongoing commitment to serving the community through such elite volunteer surgeries.
