News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Apollo Cancer Centre (ACC) has created a one-of-a-kind project called 'Check-Olate', a delicious delicacy with an even sweeter message: take a moment for yourself. According to GLOBOCAN, breast cancer continues to be the primary cause of cancer incidence and mortality among Indian women, accounting for 13.5% of all new cancer cases and 10.6% of total cancer deaths. Despite the mounting burden, screening rates remain frighteningly low, with only 1.6% of women aged 30-69 having ever had a screening (NCBI). Recognising the critical need for increased knowledge and proactive prevention, ACC intends to normalise self-care through Check-Olate and empower women to make breast self-examination a monthly habit, allowing them to take control of their health earlier. The ‘Check-Olate’ campaign was launched in the presence of Dr Surinder Singh Bhatia, Director Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals, Eastern Region, and Sumitra Barat, Executive Member of Hitaishini, a voluntary organization spreading Breast Cancer Awareness across India, along with Dr Arundhati De, Consultant Radiation Oncology, Dr Mukti Mukherjee – Consultant, Radiation Oncology, Dr Rashmi Chand - Consultant Radiology, Dr Ritu Srivastava - Consultant, and Suhita Mukherjee - Onco-Counsellor. Dr Surinder Singh Bhatia - Director Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals, Eastern Region, stated that when women thrive, nations prosper. A woman's well-being benefits families, communities, and the economy. At ACC, they continue to promote early detection, timely intervention, and a culture in which proactive care is second nature. The 'Check-Olate' project is yet another significant step in this path, reminding every woman that self-care is not a luxury, but rather a source of strength that drives a healthier, stronger, and more successful India.
