At the SXC Teachers' Day Celebration, the Higher Education Minister Provides More Details About the NEP's Implementation in WB

News Desk, News Nation 360: St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata and St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCCAA) in collaboration with the Students’ Council organized the Teachers’ Day celebration on September 5, 2026, at Fr. Depelchin Auditorium to appreciate the valuable contributions of all teachers involved in the academic development as well as character building of the students of St. Xavier’s College. The function commenced with the keynote address delivered by the Chief Guest Shri Jagannath Chattopadhyay, Minister in charge of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal and Chairman, West Bengal State Council of Higher Education. The Principal and SXCCAA President Rev. Dr Dominic Savio, SJ, presiding over the function, highlighted the role of educators in transforming students from being just inquisitive individuals to responsible citizens by developing curiosity, character, conscience, and courage. The theme of Teachers’ Day 2026 was “Reimagining Higher Education: Innovating for Inclusive and Sustainable Development.” In his address, the Chief Guest reiterated the importance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, multidisciplinary education, capacity building of faculty, and the noble thoughts of Swami Vivekananda on education. The function witnessed the performance of cultural items presented by XADAM and was concluded with the vote of thanks by the SXCCAA Honorary Secretary Sanjib Koner. The Teachers’ Day celebration saw the felicitation of ten esteemed teachers on the occasion of the award distribution ceremony for their remarkable contributions towards imparting quality education. The Xavier’s Award for Excellence in Imparting Education for the year 2026 was bestowed upon Dr Rina Ghosh, Dr Swati Sarkar, Dr Tapati Dutta, Dr. Sarbari Guha, Dr. Tridib Sengupta, Dr Subhankar Ghosh, Dr Diptiman Saha, Dr. Amitava Roy, Dr. Sumona Ghosh, and Dr. Soheli Ghose. Prof. Bipra Kumar Das was also honoured on the occasion for his meritorious services rendered to the institution over the years.
