SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk. News Nation 360: Leading medical professionals and business representatives from Medtronic discussed the urgent need for a comprehensive public health approach to trauma, which continues to be a major cause of disability in the nation, at a press conference titled "Rebuilding Lives: Advancing Trauma Care in India" that was held in Kolkata on April 17, 2026. The panel, which included Drs. Rakesh Rajput and Rajesh Kushwaha emphasised the dual burden of osteoporosis-related fragility fractures affecting the elderly and high-energy traffic accidents affecting the youth, stressing that prompt intervention during the "Golden Hour" is essential for full recovery. In addition to discussing emergency response, the experts called for greater early osteoporosis screening and standardised surgeon training. They also noted how advances in minimally invasive procedures and contemporary implant technology had greatly improved patient outcomes. At the end of the session, there was a general call for the community and legislators to view trauma as a social issue and to support a strong ecosystem that combines modern surgical care, long-term rehabilitation, and prevention to help patients resume their regular lives.
