SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) extended its road safety awareness project to Kolkata, West Bengal, as part of its ongoing national efforts to promote responsible road behaviour in India's youth. The initiative drew around 2300 students from St. Mary's Convent School and aimed to mould a new generation of conscientious road users. Through interactive sessions, experiential learning modules, and interactive discussions, school children in Kolkata learned not only the fundamentals of safe riding and pedestrian etiquette but also about their broader role in setting good examples for future generations to follow, with Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) urging young learners to think of road safety not as a regulation to be obeyed but as a culture to be followed and a life skill to be imbibed at an impressionable stage where values of consciousness and responsibility can shape behavior for a lifetime. For HMSI, Kolkata serves as an important juncture to communicate with impressionable young minds who will become the majority road users of the future, and the campaign proves how persistent awareness can change attitudes, instil respect for other commuters, and build safer roads incrementally for everyone, with such attributes, when imparted early having the ability to mold a safer environment for years ahead. HMSI's interests go beyond teaching and are about changing mindsets, and as part of its long-term dedication, the company continues to scale up its road safety initiative across the country, with Safety India being Honda's flagship program representing "Safety for Everyone" and pushing Honda's 50% reduction in traffic fatalities by 2030 and to zero fatalities by 2050. In Kolkata, this program is meant to reflect that safety responsibility goes beyond oneself because considered actions on the road are not just about protecting oneself but also the safety of others, merging with West Bengal's overall road safety education initiatives, such as school-based programs and police-led awareness drives.
