News Desk, News Nation 360 : Through the initiative and assistance of Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon. Minister for Industries, Women & Child Development, Government of West Bengal, Maharaja Cossimbazar Polytechnic Institute, a Higher Secondary School in Bagbazar, inaugurated a newly constructed Computer Lab today. Merlin Group and South City Projects have generously contributed to the lab's establishment as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Addressing the students, Dr. Shashi Panja stated that they appreciate South City Projects and the Merlin Group coming forward to help them. She expressed her sincere congratulations to both organisations on behalf of the M.C.P. Institute and the local community as a public representative. Their assistance through the appropriate use of CSR funding serves as a model for significant corporate support of grassroots development. With a rich history spanning almost a century, this institution is working hard to provide modern, technology-driven education to all facets of society, with assistance from the government. The new computer lab is equipped with five computers to drastically improve digital education and computer literacy among the students. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Shashi Panja, along with Sushil Mohta,

Director of South City Projects and Chairman of Merlin Group; Kartick Manna, SSM Chairman, Kolkata; and Kumkum Dutta Mukherjee, Headmistress of Maharaja Cossimbazar Polytechnic Institute. The institution, established in 1916 by Maharaja Manindra Chandra Nandi and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, initially ran polytechnic courses until 1960 before changing its shape to a Higher Secondary School with Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. It currently teaches more than 300 students, the majority from economically backwards sections, and also runs a hostel under the auspices of SSM, Kolkata, offering free education and lodging facilities to poor students.
