News Desk, News Nation 360 : In a second, life may change. Everything may return to normal in an instant. Then, an unforeseen event may occur that alters a person's future. Gopal Roy, a 66-year-old businessman from Barasat, experienced precisely that. When he fell off his bike and a bus ran over his hand, he suffered terrible injuries that turned an otherwise normal day into an endless nightmare. As they hurried between hospitals, he and his family had to deal with uncertainty. His hand was fractured, nearly irreparable, and he faced the possibility of having it amputated, according to the original diagnosis. Gopal Roy underwent a series of operations at Manipal Hospital, Salt Lake, after an initial operation. Two days later, Dr. Syed Faisal, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, conducted a second operation. A follow-up procedure repaired torn tendons and further enhanced his hand's architecture. He has made impressive strides, reaching milestones such as grasping a cup and lifting objects. Though complete hand function will take time and potentially involve additional minor corrective surgeries and physical therapy during the coming months, physicians are upbeat about his prospects. Though his hand will likely never be as strong as before, it should be functional in five or six weeks, a substantial win for his return to health. Dr Syed Faisal, Consultant, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Manipal Hospital, Salt Lake stated that it was a serious injury. At first, they thought flap coverage would be necessary, as is typically the case with significant hand damage. His hand was in better shape than they had anticipated before they began the treatment, though. Therefore, skin grafting was necessary, and they put in a lot of effort to guarantee the best result. Restoring function was their first goal during the entire process.
