MSU and NECBDC Work Together to Strengthen Northeast India's Bamboo Startup Ecosystem

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Under the direction of the Secretary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) of the Government of India, Medhavi Skills University (MSU) and the North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) have announced a strategic partnership to support bamboo-based startups and spur innovation in the bamboo sector. This collaboration makes use of the experience of both organisations to promote employment, encourage sustainable growth, and provide youngsters in Northeast India with worthwhile possibilities. Medhavi Skills University (MSU) and North East Cane & Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) signed an MoU to create innovative educational pathways that would address the skill requirements of the region's evolving economy. With MSU's industry-oriented skill-based programs and with NECBDC's unique specialized knowledge in cane and bamboo development, this partnership sets out to establish incubation centres to support bamboo-based startups. Such centres will offer grassroots infrastructures, mentorship, and funding opportunities to entrepreneurs in the bamboo sector. The partnership will also work towards establishing setups for research and development for developing sustainable harvesting methods for bamboo and furthering bamboo as a sustainable resource. As a result of the collaboration, Centers of Excellence are also planned to be created for specialized training in crafts, technology, and value-added products related to bamboo. These capacity-building centers would therefore serve as national hubs for developing the skills and upskilling of individuals in that region. Kuldip Sarma, Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Medhavi Skills University stated that the goal of their collaboration with NECBDC is to create vocational training in bamboo and cane technologies by fusing academic knowledge with real-world experience. Their goal is to empower local communities and promote sustainable economic growth in the Northeast by offering certifications that are pertinent to the industry.
