News Desk, News Nation 360 : NeuEN Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. (NeuEN), a 50:50 joint venture between Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), has been awarded a contract to provide Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL) with 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually (10KTPA). With the help of a long-term offtake agreement, NeuEN will build a green hydrogen generation unit at NRL's Assamese refinery. The project will combine renewable energy with cutting-edge storage technologies to enable dependable, 24-hour operations to support refinery decarbonisation. Commercial operations are anticipated to start in 2028. Commenting on the development, Sanjay Khanna, Chairman & Managing Director, BPCL, stated that this project represents an important turning point in BPCL's efforts to develop a sustainable and future-ready energy portfolio. They are expanding their reach throughout the green hydrogen value chain and moving closer to becoming a provider of clean energy solutions with NeuEN. Securing this project through a competitive bidding procedure demonstrates their commitment to creating scalable, market-aligned solutions as well as the growing maturity of the green hydrogen industry. Building strong execution capabilities and making a significant contribution to industrial decarbonisation and India's long-term energy security will continue to be their top priorities as they go.
