News Desk, News Nation 360 : A workshop on "Media Sensitisation on Child Safeguarding" was arranged by the Child in Need Institute (CINI) in collaboration with the Kolkata Press Club. The program, which took place at the Kolkata Press Club, was designed to get media professionals involved in raising awareness, encouraging ethical reporting, and bolstering group accountability for child protection. The campaign underlined the essential role of the press in ensuring that children’s rights are safeguarded throughout all areas of society. Speaking at the event, Dr Samir Narayan Chaudhuri, Founder Director of CINI, stated that CINI has been fighting to empower vulnerable families and protect children for almost 50 years. In order to elevate voices that are frequently ignored, their cooperation with the media is essential. Their dedication to protecting children is reaffirmed in this program, which also encourages group action for a safer future. The workshop also hosted conventional journalists, online content providers, and social media influencers, with the President of Press Club, Dr Snehasish Sur, presenting necessary media behaviour. Some of the other notable guests were Dr Indrani Bhattacharyya (CEO, CINI), Dr Nilanajana Dagupta IAS (Retd) and Governing Body Member of CINI, Kingshik Pramanik (Secretary, Kolkata Press Club), professors, news editors, and child rights specialists. On this occasion, CINI launched ‘Akash Chhoan Matir Golper Sangkolon,’ a special publication by Virasat Art Publication. The book compiles inspiring stories from CINI’s 50-year legacy of empowering children, families, and communities, highlighting the resilience of vulnerable groups and demonstrating how interventions in health, nutrition, education, and child protection can transform lives. This book not only documents exceptional odysseys of ordinary individuals but also acts as an enduring motivation for generations to come.
