News Desk, News Nation 360 : Rupantar Theatre Festival's "Bangiya Natya Utsav 2025" took place from December 3 to 6, 2025, at the Indian Museum, Kolkata. This festival was a one-of-a-kind project that aimed to introduce new generations to the long and rich history of Bengali theatre. Michael Madhusudan Dutt's plays Sharmishtha and Krishnakumari paved the way for modern Bengali drama. This initiative by the Rupantar Theatre Festival was especially significant in preserving that historical continuity. Over four days, several theatrical groups performed inventive

and compelling performances, filling the room with enthusiastic audiences, discussions, and replies. Among the several productions, Dhoper Chop by the Abhinetri Sangha theatrical company stood out. Papia Adhikari, a renowned Bengali cinema and theatre artist, and her crew oversaw the writing, production, planning, direction, and acting. She stated that Abhinetri Sangha was established in 1952 by Chhabi Biswas, with Raj Kapoor being directly involved. Papia Adhikari led a small but powerful crew to develop Dhoper Chop, which is based on the poetry "Amra Akash Theke Bajra Hoye Jhortei Jani." As a humble tribute, special preparations were made to commemorate Bankimchandra's 150th birth anniversary and Salil Chowdhury's centenary.
