News Desk, News Nation 360 : Section 80DDB, Income Tax Act: Deductions for expenses related to specified diseases, such as chronic renal failure, neurological diseases, AIDS and malignant cancers; Rs 40,000 available for those aged below 60 years, up to Rs 1,00,000 to senior citizens. With the rising number of critical diseases such as renal failure, heart disease, cancer, and stroke in India along with the cost of medical expenses, there are valid reasons for increasing these limits of deduction. While the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) provides free dialysis to Below Poverty Line (BPL) beneficiaries at district hospitals, it is recommended that this program be extended to standalone dialysis clinics, as dialysis can be effectively performed outside of hospital settings.
