News Desk. News Nation 360: The Kolkata-based Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL) has announced a strategic extension of its manufacturing capacity at the Pakuria facility in West Bengal. The company successfully commissioned and started commercial production from two new Annealing Furnaces with 25 MT and 30 MT annual capacities on April 21, 2026. By streamlining the annealing process, these changes are intended to increase production efficiency and guarantee consistent product quality for its metal offerings. In addition, SMEL has incorporated a 2300 mm Vertical Foil Separator (LGSS), a specialised piece of machinery that enables the high-precision separation of Light Gauge (LG) and Ultra-Light Gauge (ULG) foils within a thickness range of 6 to 15 microns. According to Chairman and Managing Director Brij Bhushan Agarwal, these improvements are necessary to produce high-quality, value-added products and successfully adapt to changing market demands. This development comes shortly after the company commissioned Phase II of its Cold Rolling Mill (CRM) in Jamuria on April 16, increasing its total CRM capacity to 0.40 MTPA to service the consumer goods, automotive, and solar industries. With an emphasis on independence and specialised manufacture, these infrastructural improvements collectively strengthen Shyam Metalics' position as a major force in the integrated metal production market.
