The 10th JBG Kolkata Marathon is Anticipated to Draw Around 15,000 Runners

News Desk, News Nation 360 : At a special kickoff event held in Kolkata, Sportiz announced the 10th edition of the JBG Kolkata Marathon. All categories are currently accepting registrations. After ten years of perseverance, solidarity, and camaraderie, what started out as a small trail run has grown into one of Kolkata's most prestigious running festivals. With a historic move to Red Road, Maidan, the 2025 edition embodies the spirit of "Cholo Dourai" and provides runners with an elite running experience against the most renowned backdrop in the city. The event's brand ambassadors will remain fitness legend Milind Soman and his spouse, Ankita Konwar. Numerous residents have been continuously inspired to adopt fitness as a way of life by their presence. They have been instrumental over the years in promoting physical activity in the community and enhancing wellness. The JBG Kolkata Marathon 2025 marks its milestone year by adding the 21.1K Half Marathon to its signature race portfolio, besides the Elite 10K, Open 10K, 5K Cosplay Run, and Special Heroes, with more than 15,000 runners anticipated to participate, making it the biggest edition to date. The events are divided into Elite 10K for invitation-only professional athletes, Half Marathon for runners 18 and older, Open 10K timed for recreational runners 13 and older, 5K Feels Like Joy Run as a non-timed fun run for 13+, Special Heroes 3K for people with disabilities (with companion assistance), and Cosplay Run with the hope to get dressed up as favorite characters. The official launch ceremony had the notable presence of Aditya Jajodia, MD & Chairman, Jai Balaji Group; Devendra Jhajharia, President, Paralympic Committee of India; Rahul Swami, CEO, PCI; Kusum Kumar Dwivedi, Honorary General Secretary, Kolkata Police Athletic Club and Marathon Mentor; and Dr Sujay Deb Barman, COO, IRIS Multispeciality Hospital and Marathon Medical Director. Awardees para-athletes who were feted included Rudransh Khandelwal—a multiple medal and world-record holding Paris Paralympian, Suchitra Parida—an international medalist and national record holder, Shreyansh Trivedi—an Asian Para Games medalist and record holder, Rakesh Bhatt—an Asian Para Games participant and international medallist, and Marlyappan Thangavelu—a three-time Paralympic medallist in high jump, highlighting the inclusivity and competitiveness of the event.
