The heritage boutique hotel The Astor, Kolkata, is hosting an Anglo-Indian food festival curated by Executive Chef Azad Taslim, celebrating the city’s colonial culinary legacy. The menu begins with the soulful East Indian Mulligatawny Soup and a range of appetisers, including the Railway Vegetable Cutlet, Parmesan-Garlic Roast Cauliflower,
and the Coffee Shop Style Coconut Prawn Cutlet. Other highlights feature Mutton Pantheras, Chicken Dry Fry, and a rustic Pork Roast Fry. Main courses offer slow-cooked classics like the Portuguese-influenced Fish Mollie, the iconic Railway Mutton Curry, and Chicken À La Kiev. Diners can also savour the bold Pork Vindaloo or a vegetarian Seasonal Vegetable Stew. Hearty additions include the Junglee Pulao and the classic Shepherd’s Pie. The journey concludes with nostalgic desserts: East India Company Coconut Pudding and Dark Spiced English Fruit Cake. This festival invites guests to rediscover history through these carefully preserved recipes from India's storied past.
