The National Financial Literacy Quiz in Kolkata Tests Young Minds with NISM and SEBI

News Desk, News Nation 360: The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), in association with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), conducted the Eastern Regional Round of National Financial Literacy Quiz (NFLQ) 2026 successfully on 22nd – 23rd August 2026 at St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata. The quiz witnessed the participation of UG and PG qualifiers from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha who participated in the NFLQ 2026, a contest held for the first time with an overwhelming response from over 4 lakh students across the country. The dignitaries present at the function included NISM Director Shri Sashi Krishnan and SEBI Chief General Manager Shri Vikas S.S., who spoke on the importance of imparting financial literacy, understanding the nuances of the financial markets and the importance of protecting investors’ interests at a young age. The Department of Commerce, St. Xavier’s College (Park Street, Kolkata) emerged champion, bagging 1st prize with Rs. 40,000 in the UG category, followed by THK Jain College (2nd prize- Rs.30,000) and Trivenidevi Bhalotia College (3rd prize- Rs.20,000). The 1st prize of Rs.40,000 in the PG category was bagged by the Department of Business Administration, University of Kalyani followed by L. N. Mishra Institute, Patna (2nd prize – Rs.30,000) and ICFAI Business School Kolkata (3rd prize – Rs.20,000) while 12 UG and 12 PG colleges qualified from the Eastern Zone to participate in the Grand Finale scheduled to be held at the NISM Campus in Patalganga, Maharashtra in November 2026.
