News Desk, News Nation 360 : The fifth edition of The Soul Local, which took place at the Aquatica Grounds on January 18 and 19, was a soulful start to the year and the biggest celebration of Kolkata's dynamic spirit. Over 14,000 people attended the event for two days. This year, it had all-star lineups in the names of Arko Mukhaerjee, Lakkhichhara, Mame Khan, Seedhe Maut, and Papon; Oaff & Savera, who would perform for the first time in Kolkata, graced the festival along with a vibrant experience of street food with well-known food spots Fluffys, Chowman, and Urban Tandoor. The Soul Local is the brainchild of Ankita Chakraborty and Rishi Raj Ghosh, who also co-founded Calcutta Cacophony (CC) in 2014. Born out of a need to celebrate and uplift Kolkata's culture, the CC began as a college project but has now transformed into a collective of young visionaries to preserve the city's unique charm. The Soul Local, which started as a humble terrace event, has emerged from this shared dream and has grown into a signature Kolkata experience. This fifth edition holds a special significance, coinciding with CC's 10th anniversary, and marks a significant step forward by becoming the biggest homegrown music festival, showcasing the vibrant cultures of the East. Ankita Chakraborty and Rishi Raj Ghosh stated that when they came up with the concept of Calcutta Cacophony back in 2014, they considered using it as a venue to display artists from all across the city. However, after looking at CC, they see how much it has expanded. They credit this achievement to everyone who has contributed to this trip, past and present, as this dream was not just Rishi's but theirs. They hope they keep making more moments that the City of Joy will treasure.
