AIMRA Celebrates India's Mobile Industry's 30 Years in Kolkata

News Desk, News Nation 360 : With great pride, the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) announces the conclusion of its "3 Decades of Mobile Industry Celebration," commemorating 30 years since India's first mobile call. In a landmark moment that not only transformed communication in India but also set the stage for the nation's continuous digital transformation, West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu used a Nokia phone on Modi Telstra's network to make the first-ever mobile call to then-Telecommunications Minister Sukh Ram on July 31, 1995. A Commemorative Postal Stamp was introduced in conjunction with this momentous occasion to commemorate the revolutionary development of mobile connection and its profound influence on the advancement of the country. Speaking to the media, Kailash Lakhyani, National Founder Chairman, AIMRA, stated that In addition to paying homage to technological advancement, India's commemoration of 30 years of mobile telephony honours the tenacity, fortitude, and contributions of the nation's thousands of mobile shops. Their stores have served as a crucial link between innovation and the average consumer since the first voice call was placed in 1995 and up to the high-speed connectivity of today. AIMRA is proud of this incredible journey and is dedicated to

providing every retailer with the information, resources, and chances they need to succeed in the digital era as we move forward. The 30th anniversary of cellular telephony in India was marked with the launch of a Special Postal Stamp at The Almond, Kolkata. The program was graced by illustrious dignitaries such as Ashok Kumar, Chief Post Master General West Bengal Circle; Kailash Lakhyani, National Founder Chairman AIMRA; Navneet Pathak, National Joint Secretary AIMRA; Mohan Bajoria, State President AIMRA Bengal; Mridul Biswas, State General Secretary AIMRA Bengal, among other dignified guests. Embodying the "local for vocal" philosophy, the event reinforced Bengal's slogan, "Bengal means Business," as it highlighted the state's entrepreneurial and leadership role in India's mobile revolution. Mobile retailers, who are accepted as an indispensable force behind India's digital revolution, have guided customers right from the inception of mobile adoption and continued through each phase of technology advancement with hand-holding experience, expert help, and dependable servicing. More than 200 AIMRA leaders across India came together in Kolkata to celebrate the incredible journey of the mobile industry and recognize mobile retailers—the "end mile"—who have played a pivotal role for three decades, bringing innovation directly to consumers.
