News Desk, News Nation 360 : A special session on "Toy Industry of Bengal: A Better Tomorrow" was held today by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Bharat Toy Association. Akshay Binjrajka, the president of the Bharat Toy Association; Naresh Pachisia, the president of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce; NG Khaitan, the immediate past president of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce; and Moloy Ghatak, the Honourable Minister in charge of the Department of Labour, Judicial and Law, Government of West Bengal, all spoke at the session. Naresh Pachisia, President, Bharat Chamber of Commerce, stated that from USD 152.3 million in FY 2024–2025 to USD 172 million in FY 2024–2025, exports have increased gradually. Opportunities for the sector to thrive have been further increased by the integration of local manufacturers with internet platforms. However, India has a lot of distance to go in comparison to global value chains. Even while imports

of toys have decreased by over 70%, a sizable portion of the market still uses conventional production techniques, with little use of automation, artificial intelligence, or 3D printing. The session highlighted Bengal's centuries-old toy-making tradition, referencing popular heritage crafts such as Krishnanagar clay dolls, Burdwan wooden toys, Bankura horses, and Sholapith creations, and debating ways to showcase these crafts in international markets. With the toy sector moving ahead through the Atmanirbhar Bharat program, participants emphasised the upgradation of skills, sustainability, and convergence of artisanal traditions with STEM-based learning toy designs. The session was concluded on a mutually agreed note to turn Bengal into a prime hub of toy manufacturing, where both traditional art and innovative technology come together to achieve global competitiveness while preserving cultural heritage.
