SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: On July 8, 2026, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), India's National Standards Body, conducted a successful search and seizure enforcement raid at the retail showroom of "Arnab Jewellers" at 14 Dispensary Lane in Ranaghat. This action was taken in response to reliable regulatory information about the illegal distribution of gold jewellery with fake hallmarks that completely lacked the required, traceable six-digit Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) alphanumeric string. The operation, carried out by the BIS Kolkata Branch Office, directly penalises a serious statutory violation under the strict consumer-protection mandates of the BIS Act, 2016. This law requires that all gold artefacts sold in the Nadia district and 21 other notified districts of West Bengal permanently display the three official hallmarking hallmarks: the unique piece-specific six-digit HUID code, the exact Purity in Carat and Fineness grade, and the sacred triangular BIS Standard Mark. BIS authorities strongly advise the public to proactively confirm the legitimacy of all gold purchases by cross-referencing and validating the stamped HUID number instantly using the official, free-access BIS Care App before completing any financial transactions in order to systematically eradicate fraudulent black-market trading and promote complete transparency across the precious metals market.
